Don't "Fool Around" With Your Data!
Most recently we heard stories about the tornados in Kentucky, previously in Joplin, MO and last fall many residents and businesses in Central Pennsylvania were affected by the floods. It is a common reaction to say disaster never strikes close to home but unfortunately we cannot say that anymore. I know this subject has been addressed often in past newsletters and direct mail campaigns and you are likely tired of hearing about it. But often disasters do strike in a business and more frequently they are related to failure that you could have been prepared for.
Many of our clients are pretty savvy with computers and I am fairly certain that most have a backup of some sort in place. Let me challenge you with a few probing questions:
- Do you have a backup in place?
- Does the media go offsite every day? Are you absolutely sure?
- How frequently do you check what is on the media? Do you know if it is critical data only, data that changed since the last backup, or a full system backup?
- Is any data backed up to a remote site every night?
- Do you know the last time the data on the backup was actually checked?
If you can answer yes to each of those questions quickly without investigating further, I will give you one hour of free service because you are obviously on top of things! Until I am convinced that I have adequately stressed the importance of protecting your data, I will continue (harping).
Fortunately there is a way to positively guarantee your data can be restored quickly and easily. Our MSS Data Vault will give you complete peace of mind that you CAN be back up and running FAST in the event of a major data disaster.
